Artist Profile: Kim Philpotts - Printmaking
I trained as a stage designer whilst my Masters Degree specialised in Film British and American History.
I worked for many years at a school for the performing arts in Hertfordshire. Now a permananet resident in Stratford-upon-Avon once again I am able to develop my Art practice.
Within my work I seek to engage with our cultural history. Research forms an integral part of my creative process and my ideas draw upon a diverse range of source material. I am particularly interested in storytelling, performance and role play.
I am primarily a printmaker. I will utilise any technique that is appropriate to my intentions whether collograph, monoprint or drypoint. My personal preference is copperplate etching. My prints have the quality of book illustrations and encourage the viewer to conjure up their own narratives.
My own story, a combination of 36 images with accompanying text, entitled Burnout has just been published.
